Today was my eighth day working as a software engineering intern at RingRevenue and I gotta say, it feels soooo gooood to be done fucking with .NET. That API wrapper had me tearing my hair out trying to create HTTP web requests and fetch their responses — and don’t even get me started on unit testing that shit.
It’s a ton of fun. I mean, super intimidating pretty much every day, I’m surrounded by brilliant human beings a minimum of 8 hours Monday through Friday, but I wouldn’t give it up for a 30% pay raise anywhere else. All I want is to learn learn learn learn learn until I’m finally worth more than they’re paying me.
But it’s exhausting. Sitting in an office chair all day really takes it out of you. I have all these things I wanna do, things I planned to do this summer: watch Khan Academy Finance and Calculus videos, crank out a shit-ton of Calculus exercises, workout every day, code my Grandpa’s site promoting his new book, and build some stuff of my own; but every day I come home and I just wanna lay back on the love sac, smoke a bowl, watch Legend of Korra or Mad Men or some other equally incredible (yet still semi-mind-numbing) TV show, and crash out.
Maybe I need more sleep. Where do people get the energy??!
